Gentle Systems

Gentle Systems is a creative engineering studio for exploratory technology. LA-born and Berlin-raised, Gentle Systems launched as an upstart studio that used innovative technology to challenge how humans and machines interacted for a better future. Sixteen years later, they’ve grown, but our spirit is very much the same.

They are a small, versatile team of engineers, designers, technologists, philosophers, coders, researchers and storytellers that applies their experience in immersive research, experimentation and pioneering technology, to building scalable responses to wasteful industrial systems.

Gentle Systems Innovations is primarily responsible for developing semi-automated workstations and handheld tools for repair + dismantling, and supporting testing + evaluation.

  • Development of 2 Workstations (TRL 7)

    • Repair Workstation: Target is to enable basic repair actions (e.g. replacement of zippers, buttons, tear mending) within 10min. Product: Active goods

    • Dismantling Workstation: Target is to recover 10kg of high-end technical fibres (aramid) per hour per person. Product: PPE
